Term limits

rweait's picture

I've made a spreadsheet that implements the special resolutions as I understand them. Have a look if you would like to play with the term limits and the history of the board*. Set a "date of interest" in cell B2. Or fill that cell with =NOW() to have it up to date each day. :-) The final column should tell you if a particular board member is term limited as of the date of interest. The spreadsheet is in Open Document Format

Board election data 2014

This post includes the raw output from the online voting service used for the OSMF 2014 AGM voting matters. Also included is an html-ified transcription with pretty bar graphs from the original pdf. Find the orignals below.

As noted elsewhere, a typo propagated into the election and so the records show a candidate Paul Normal who we know as candidate Paul Norman. I have left those typos in place.

[Transcription begins. Apologies in advance for errors.]

This is the second in a series of articles looking at STV data from the OpenStreetMap Foundation Annual General Meeting ballot measures. In this article I look at vote rank and the number of votes per ballot and how that relates to different candidates.

Candidate ranks on ballots

Let's take a look at the rank of candidates listed on the ballots.

Let's look at how Single Transferrable Vote works in practice. What do the numbers from the recent OSMF AGM votes say?

Voter engagement

How many eligible voters participated in the vote?

About as many Members and Associate Members participated, or about one hundred of each group. Only Members were permitted to vote on the Special Resolutions (SR1 - SR3). The Special Resolutions required 75% agreement to carry, and they did so.

The OpenStreetMap Foundation election to the Board is coming up soon, or so I hear. And will use Single Transferrable Vote (STV) for the first time. I'm not familliar with STV, not having lived in an STV jusrisdiction, and wanted to see what the proceess looked like. Dermot found some tools for use by the Board, and now I've made a tool to create example election results.

The OpenStreetMap Foundation election to board is coming up shortly. Details will be posted soonish. In the interim, some of you might be wondering what all this STV-stuff is, if you haven't seen it in your local elections.

Kate, wonderchook, offered this link as a handy demonstration of the very basics.

The same video publisher made related videos that address some of the details.
